I have always wanted to teach CSS, and while I have done a lot of tutorials on my personal blog and dabbled in some teaching in college, my first real opportunity to reach a wide audience came in March of this year when I was offered a publishing deal with Prentice Hall. They were looking for a CSS expert to record a livelesson DVD, and I jumped at the opportunity. This was what I always wanted to do!
Fast-forward 5 months, and CSS Fundamentals is finally in post-production. It will be hitting the shelves very soon! If you want to learn CSS, and save yourself a little money, I recommend you pre-order the bundle that is already available on Amazon.com. You’ll get my CSS Fundamentals DVD, with over 6 hours of video training, along with Sam’s Teach Yourself CSS in 24 Hours by Kynn Bartlett, an excellent book that I highly recommend. According to the box art, this is a $150 value, but we all know you can’t put a price on knowledge. You can buy this bundle here: CSS Fundamentals LiveLessons Bundle on Amazon.com.

CSS Fundamentals was the whole reason that I got into video tutorials, and the inspiration for this site. The content of CSS Fundamentals is unique; I recorded it before I created this site, and while this site offers a smattering of techniques and walkthroughs on CSS, CSS Fundamentals is a complete course on learning CSS from the basics to advanced topics. You’ll learn how to write CSS, how to manipulate styles and layouts, how to work with frameworks and grids, and how to support all the common browsers, as well as get some primers on mobile and print stylesheets. With CSS Fundamentals, you are getting the equivalent of sitting down with me for a day and learning CSS directly from me. Also, remember that every purchase of this DVD supports me, the author, and allows me to continue teaching topics like CSS in this format. It’s my hope that both this DVD and this site will reach a wide audience and help everyone improve their CSS skills.
I’ll continue to update this page with more information as the DVD approaches publication, including more options for buying it. The bundle is currently available on Barnes & Noble as well as a handful of other bookstores, but Amazon.com offers the best price. Pre-order it now!
